fort d surviving fortification built union troops here during civil war. fort sat north of downtown cape girardeau on high hill. grist-grinding windmill included in fort. fort b located academic hall stands @ southeast missouri state university. fort c built @ end of bloomfield road east of pacific st.


smaller earthworks included battery @ corner of henderson , new madrid streets, battery b on whitener street east of sunset avenue , rifle pits along perry avenue , on hill southeast missouri hospital stands.
