vaccination
the crumbling poorly financed healthcare system , rumours children have fallen ill or died after being immunised have led poor vaccination rate. in august 2016, 30% of children in ukraine immunized against measles, 10%, against hepatitis b, , 3% of against diphtheria, pertussis , tetanus. @ time ukraine had lowest routine immunization rate in world.
high blood pressure , obesity
according study, entitled main reasons high death rate in ukraine conducted world bank , released in december 2010 every third ukrainian aged 18–65, including every fifth aged 18–25, had high blood pressure. 29% of respondents suffered overweight, , 20% suffered obesity.
smoking
according above-mentioned 2010 world bank study 36% (28.6% average in europe) of ukrainians smoke tobacco, including 31% of smoke every day. men primary education , women higher education inclined smoking. 80% of daily smokers men. average age daily smokers start habit decreasing, , @ present 16 years. in younger age group there 4 times many smokers in older age group. smallest percentage of smokers found in west of country (24.6%), while largest in east (34%).
hiv/aids
ukraine has 1 of fastest growing hiv/aids epidemics in world. 1.63 percent of ukrainian adults, or 756,300 citizens, estimated living hiv/aids in 2007, 1.46 percent of population in 2005, or 685,600 citizens, according unaids. statistics reflect official cases, while infected higher according unaids. number of hiv/aids cases in ukraine reduced 200 or 3.9% 4,900 in period of january–november 2008, compared corresponding period of last year. ukraine has 1 of highest rates of increase of hiv/aids cases in eastern europe.
mental health
due macho, patriarchal culture there great resistance psychotherapy in ukraine. weak mechanisms licensing effective counsellors aggravates resistance. shame fostered years ukraine part of soviet union compounds problem. soviet authorities rendering psychiatry tool punishment (by imprisoning political dissidents in asylums) demonised mental health issues further.
