the high choir decorated wall , ceiling paintings. dominated large red double cross. simple high altar placed between stairs high choir. 1871 shrine of st patroclus, containing remains of saint have stood below.

sigefridus shrine of patroclus, reliquary chasse, made in soest, 1311–1330

the shrine of patroclus, created between 1311 , 1330 master sigefridus sold berlin museum in 1841 , lost in 1945 in burning of friedrichshain bunker in berlin. few parts saved or stolen before fire , several of these including statue dating 1340 today in bode museum.

rex in gloria

rex in gloria painting created around 1200. painting, dominated church, 5.3 metres (17 ft) high , 3.9 metres (13 ft) metres wide. depicted christ on golden throne, right hand in gesture of blessing , left hand holding book. above in romanesque majuscule written si diligitis me mandata mea servate (if love me, obey commands). work destroyed in aerial attack on 7 march 1945.

on column between round arches of organ loft on west side statue of patroclus. wears suit of armour, bears imperial eagle on shield , has sword drawn, ready serve protector of order , city. patroclus of troyes beheaded in 275 under emperor valerian, because refused sacrifice roman gods. in catholic church venerated martyr. feast day january 21.

in mary choir there romanesque wall paintings second half of 12th century. paintings show mary baby jesus, 3 kings , jesus grandparents saint anne , joachim.
