the objectives in pirates, vikings , knights ii game defined game mode being used; @ moment there 4 game modes implemented out of planned nine. in booty games, teams must collect or steal treasure chests distributed across level , bring them own base activate countdown timer victory. more chests team has in possession, quicker timer decreases. variation on booty tag mode, in there single chest , teams fight control of chest decrease timer. third game mode territory , in teams fight control of strategic area of surroundings. when 1 team holds territory, countdown timer activates unless displaced team. final game mode straight team deathmatch teams try kill many of opposing teams possible.


combat in pirates, vikings , knights ii achieved through melee strikes, blocking , ranged attacks. melee performed through directed mouse movements different directional of strike, can parried or blocked other melee weapons corresponding mouse movement depending on properties of weapons involved in fight. successful parry leaves attacker momentarily slowed , incapable of attacking or blocking, allowing counter-strike. ranged attacks allow players attack enemies afar, @ risk of lowering close combat defences. ranged attacks can blocked players shields.


the game s maps span variety of realistic , unrealistic settings , environments, such medieval castles, aztec temples , caribbean islands , towns. maps built around particular game mode configuration , designed eighteen players in mind. further maps added in subsequent releases. in addition official maps, game s community actively creates custom maps , content game.


classes

in initial release 1 class available each team, although eighteen classes planned in total. eighteen classes planned final version of pvkii include pirates: skirmisher, captain, sharpshooter, freebooter, ealer, , buccaneer. vikings: berserker, huscarl, gestir, bondi, seio-kona, , jarl. knights: heavy knight, archer, man-at-arms, assassin, cleric, , lord. release of beta 2.0 saw inclusion of further 3 classes, viking gestir included in 2.3 update, , pirate sharpshooter included in 2.5 update. overall class structure designed balance, variety of different classes being used create effective strategies against opposing teams. each class weapons follow theme of team: pirate classes use variety of sabres, cutlasses , flintlock firearms, vikings use battle axes , spears , knight players have access range of swords , bows. every class has access unique special ability, becomes available after player has dealt sufficient damage foes.


pirate players can choose captain, skirmisher, or sharpshooter. captains armed cutlass, blunderbuss , parrot, can used harassing enemies or distraction. special ability gives them capability of firing explosive cannonball blunderbuss. skirmishers equipped cutlass can lunge forward , impale enemies using special ability, flintlock pistol , gunpowder keg. skirmishers move faster other classes, have less health. sharpshooters ranged class of pirates, , equipped long rifle long distance shooting, more accurate version of skirmisher pistol, , small dagger close quarter melee combat.


the vikings can play berserker, huscarl or gestir. berserker possess two-handed bearded axe shorter axe , shortsword. berserkers can use special ability drive bloodlust, allowing them move faster , attack more effectively. huscarl armed shortsword , shield can used ram enemies special ability, 4 throwing axes , two-handed axe. gestir equipped shield , langseax, 3 javelins can thrown @ enemies, , spear gestirs can use special ability on charge enemies , knock them away.


the knights have access heavy knight , archer , man @ arms. heavy knights slow moving wield longsword , can use special ability circular spinning attack. equipped shield , shortsword. contrast, archer fast moving class armed both crossbow , longbow, , can use special ability fire 3 flaming arrows @ once longbow. equipped shortsword close combat. man @ arms equipped halberd,a mace small shield , smaller version of archer crossbow. special attack farting makes enemies slow , damage them @ same time.the archer , man @ arms both skirmisher,they have less health other classes run , attack faster in quick blows.
