remmes photographic style based on pictorialism. „intrinsic photography“ (remmes work) contrary new objectivity of düsseldorf school of photography founded bernd , hilla becher. captures multiple dimensions of theater reality including diverse temporal, spatial, contextual , reality layers in 1 image. pictures tell stories of theatre machinery. shows backgrounds , unwritten laws, union of scientific , superstitious components behind scenes. remmes writes small notes , poems light show different realities: world outside , artificial world on stage, when actors , singers swap 1 world other.


he represents modern theatre photography he’s not interested in personality cult or in documentation of action on stage. uses unusual prospects, i.e. bird’s eye view. photographs carry emotion in different way, blurred , strong contrasted sujets. remmes manages bring sensitive balance between theatrical work , art perceptibility.
