1646 - adriaen van der donck gets land grant director of new netherland willem kieft. van der donck names estate colen donck.
1654 - thomas pell bought large tract of land chief wampage , other siwanoy indian tribal members under treaty oak.
1655 - september 15: farms in bronx attacked during peach tree war between susquehannock , new netherlands.
1664 - province of new york, british colony, created seizure of dutch colony of new netherland part of second anglo-dutch war.
1683 - westchester county, created. contains of lands become bronx.)
1748 - van cortlandt house built.
1758 - valentine–varian house built.
1761 - benjamin palmer buys island , renames city island.
1776 - battle of pell s point (battle of pelham) takes place in pelham bay park.
1833 - fort schuyler constructed.
1840 - st. ann s episcopal church (bronx), constructed.
1841 - fordham university established st. john s college.
1846 - town of west farms created town of westchester, new york
1848 - gouverneur morris jr. sells sells 200 acres create morrisania village.
1855

gouverneur morris jr. sells additional land combined morrisania village form town of morrisania.
fonthill castle purchased become campus of college of mount st. vincent.


1857 - foundry of janes, fowler, kirtland & company, owned adrian janes moves bronx in order cast second united states capitol dome.
1860

the robert colgate house constructed.
the sunnyslope building built.


1865 - st. james episcopal church , parish house consecrated.
1866 - st barnabas hospital founded.
1873 - state legislature annexes 3 towns westchester county new york city of 1874. 3 annexed towns of annexed district (later known west bronx) town of west farms, town of morrisania, , town of kingsbridge.
1884

montefiore medical center founded in manhattan. in 1913 moved bronx.
pelham park , city island railway both incorporated on august 30th.


1888 - washington bridge connects bronx , manhattan island.
1889 - keeper s house @ williamsbridge reservoir built.
1891 - new york botanical garden established.
1892 - union railway company of new york city, streetcar franchise chartered.
1894

bronx chamber of commerce founded.
hall of fame great americans built.


1895

the east bronx, minus city island, transferred new york city.
van cortlandt park public golf course opens.


1896 - city island transfers westchester county new york city.
1897

morris high school opens.
jahn s ice cream parlor in business.
bronx borough hall constructed.


1898

january 1: bronx established borough in city of greater new york.
louis m. haffen becomes borough president.
lincoln school nurses founded.


1899

bronx zoo opens.
calvary hosptal opens.
