the riders board roller coaster in model village of serka zong, begin speedy route through himalayas base of mount everest.

the train departs station right , climbs small lift leading short drop, circles around 118-foot (36 m) lift hill, carrying riders 199 ⁄2-foot-high (60.8 m) mountain. tallest attraction @ walt disney world, beating twilight zone tower of terror 6 inches. disney keeps under 200 feet because law requires structures 200 feet or taller have blinking red light beacon low-flying planes, disney feels take parkgoers out of experience. on way passes through ransacked temple murals of yeti, warning riders mountain territory. @ top of mountain train curves around main peak , goes through cave. when emerges, draws halt in front of track has been torn apart, presumably yeti. train held in place series of rubber tires while automatic switch rotates piece of track directly behind train. train rolls backwards along new route spirals down through mountain, coming halt in large cave, riders see yeti s shadow on wall tears more track. effect distracts riders noticing automatic track switch rotates in front of them. shadow moves away, train rolls forward out of mountain , down main 80-foot (24 m) drop. enters 250° turn , speeds through cave in mountain, roars of yeti heard once more. train exits rear of mountain , enters large helix before being lifted mountain final time. train drops through cave, yeti reaching down toward it. on reaching bottom of drop, riders return unloading dock , depart gift shop. 1 ride takes 2 minutes , 50 seconds.

expedition everest has 6 steam-like trains, each 6 cars provide 17 rows seating 2 abreast, total of 36 riders per train. trains themed anandapur rail service , made old , rusty. riders must @ least 44 inches (110 cm) tall , secured lap bar. 5 trains operate @ once, fewer can used if guest demand low. create illusion of steam powered train, engineers placed vents under station. when train comes station, steam comes through vents , enters loading platform.
