the regiment consists of hq battery, 3 gun batteries, naval gunfire support forward observation battery , attached royal electrical , mechanical engineers workshop, includes royal logistic corps stores section. gun batteries equipped 6 l118 105mm light guns , 3 observation posts each. batteries follows:



7 (sphinx) battery royal artillery – commando trained l118 gun battery based @ rm condor, arbroath. slated lose guns under army 2020.
8 (alma) commando battery royal artillery – commando trained l118 gun battery based @ royal citadel, plymouth
23 (gibraltar 1779–1783) commando battery royal artillery – headquarters commando battery, , radar troop, 29 commando regiment based @ royal citadel, plymouth
79 (kirkee) commando battery royal artillery – commando trained l118 gun battery based @ royal citadel, plymouth
148 (meiktila) battery royal artillery – battery, based @ rm poole, has primary role of naval gunfire support forward observation (ngsfo) battery. tasked direct naval gunfire support royal navy ships, air strikes royal navy , royal air force aircraft , artillery fire regiment s gun batteries, when landed in support of 3 commando brigade
29 commando regiment workshop royal electrical , mechanical engineers – workshop main hq based @ royal citadel, plymouth, battery fitter sections permanently attached to, , based with, each battery.
