on 11 may 1962, razorback participated in swordfish nuclear weapons test, test of asroc (anti-submarine rocket). asroc 10-kiloton, w44 nuclear depth charge warhead fired destroyer agerholm @ target raft range of 2 nautical miles (3.7 km). razorback submerged @ periscope depth approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) target raft. explosion produced underwater shock wave shook razorback. video of test available department of energy.


regularly deployed seventh fleet sixties razorback sailed south china sea on 1965 deployment earned first vietnam service medal. returned san diego on 1 february 1966, in western pacific 29 december 1966 3 july 1967 , 6 august 1968 february 1969. during 1969 continued operate on west coast out of san diego, winning third battle  e on 2 july 1969. razorback s last deployment, again western pacific, 30 january 7 august 1970. during stopover in guam, scenes film noon sunday shot aboard boat. not long after return west coast, decommissioned @ hunter s point naval shipyard. concurrent decommissioning on 30 november, razorback transferred turkish navy.


in 26 years of service in u.s. navy razorback earned 5 battle stars world war ii service, 4 campaign stars vietnam war service , 2 awards of armed forces expeditionary medal.
