systems
tropical depression 01f

during november 21, rsmc nadi reported tropical disturbance had developed 375 km (235 mi) north-west of mata-utu, on french territory of wallis , futuna. on next couple of days atmospheric convection surrounding system gradually became better organised moved south-westwards before classified tropical depression during november 23.



tropical depression 03f

late on december 20, rsmc nadi reported tropical disturbance 03f, had developed within area of low vertical windshear north-northeast of pago pago, american samoa.



tropical depression 04f

during december 21, rsmc nadi reported tropical disturbance had developed 275 km (170 mi) northeast of aitutaki in cook islands. moved globally southeast tropical depression. triggered heavy rain in french polynesia s society islands , in northern cook islands.


the system last noted fms during december 24, while located southeast of tahiti, french polynesia.



tropical depression 05f

tropical disturbance 05f first noted on december 23, while located 75 km (45 mi) north of mata-utu in island nation of wallis , futuna. system located within marginal environment further development, contained low moderate vertical wind shear , had outflow.



tropical cyclone niko

during january 19, rsmc nadi reported tropical disturbance 06f had developed, northeast of papeete on french polynesian island of tahiti. system lay under upper level ridge of high pressure in environment, favorable further development low moderate vertical windshear. result, organisation of atmospheric convection surrounding system improved, while systems low level circulation centre rapidly consolidated on next day. result, late on january 20, jtwc initiated advisories on system assigned designation 07p. rsmc nadi subsequently reported system had developed category 1 tropical cyclone , named niko. on next 2 days system gradually intensified further , became category 2 tropical cyclone on january 22. on january 25, niko completed extratropical transition.



severe tropical cyclone ola

during january 29, rsmc nadi reported tropical depression 09f had moved basin, australian region northwest of new caledonia. system moving towards east-northeast , lay within area of low vertical wind shear underneath upper level ridge of high pressure. during january 30 jtwc initiated advisories on system , assigned designation tropical cyclone 10p. rsmc nadi subsequently reported system had become category 1 tropical cyclone , named ola. on next 2 days system gradually intensified further , became category 3 severe tropical cyclone on february 1.



severe tropical cyclone pam


during march 6, rsmc nadi reported tropical disturbance 11f had developed 1,140 km (710 mi) northwest of nadi, fiji. disturbance continued on southwestward track until 2 days later, when rsmc had upgraded tropical depression. jtwc issued tropical cyclone formation alert (tcfa). cyclone pam developed out of system on march 9, when rsmc nadi started tracking category 1 tropical cyclone. located in area of favourable conditions, pam gradually intensified powerful category 5 severe tropical cyclone march 12. pam s ten-minute maximum sustained winds peaked @ 250 km/h (155 mph), along minimum pressure of 896 hpa, making pam intense tropical cyclone of basin since zoe in 2002. several hours later, cyclone began curve towards south-southeast, allowing pam pass east of efate, becoming single worst natural disaster in history of vanuatu. cyclone crippled vanuatu s infrastructure: estimated 90 percent of nation s buildings impacted storm s effects, telecommunications paralyzed, , water shortages took place.


the fms estimated pam having record-breaking 250 km/h (155 mph) ten-minute sustained winds. storm s winds gradually slowed afterwards pam tracked west of tafea. however, fms indicated cyclone s pressure dropped further minimum of 896 mbar (hpa; 26.46 inhg) on march 14. pam left fms area of responsibility progressed along path, storm s eye faded away , pam s low level circulation became displaced associated thunderstorms, signalling rapid weakening phase. later on march 15, both agencies discontinued issuing advisories pam entered phase of extratropical transition while affecting northeastern new zealand.



tropical cyclone reuben

on march 19, rsmc nadi had reported tropical disturbance 12f had developed 375 km (235 mi) southwest of apia on samoan island of upolu. system moved southwards classified tropical depression. on march 21, jtwc classified 12f tropical storm, giving designation 20p. on march 22, rsmc nadi reported system had developed category 1 tropical cyclone , named reuben, while located 220 km (135 mi) south of nuku’alofa, tonga. on march 23, both agencies discontinued issuing advisories reuben entered phase of extratropical transition.


between march 20–22, reuben s precursor tropical depression produced heavy rain , strong winds on fiji s lau islands.



tropical depression 14f

the depression last noted fms during march 31, while located 600 km (375 mi) southeast of rarotonga in cook islands.



tropical cyclone solo

tropical depression 15f developed within monsoon trough during april 9, 465 km (290 mi) south of honiara in solomon islands. system located under upper-level ridge of high pressure , in region favouring further development, including low vertical wind shear , sea surface temperatures of above 30 °c (86 °f). result, system rapidly developed during day moved southwards, atmospheric convection wrapping systems low level circulation centre. during next day jtwc initiated advisories on system , classified tropical cyclone 23p, while fms reported system had developed category 1 tropical cyclone , named solo. system continued intensify during day, before both jtwc , fms reported solo had peaked winds of 100 km/h (65 mph) during april 11, made category 2 tropical cyclone on australian scale.


turning south-southeast, solo entered area of strong vertical wind shear , subsequently weakened. during april 12, solo passed 50 km (30 mi) northeast of belep islands, moved between new caledonia s mainland , loyalty islands. solo subsequently declassified tropical cyclone later day, after had lost characteristics of tropical cyclone. within solomon islands, makira - ereteria river flooded during april 7, while flash flooding destroyed food gardens, bananas , cocoa beans. impacted new caledonia, solo caused wind gusts of 100 km/h (62 mph), while rainfall totals of 222 mm (8.7 in) recorded in new caledonia. indirect effect of solo significant damage recorded in new caledonia, road impassable in places , drinking water deteriorated in municipality of pouébo.



tropical cyclone raquel


tropical disturbance 17f developed 718 km (445 mi) northeast of honiara in solomon islands on june 28. on next couple of days system moved westwards australian region, developed category 1 tropical cyclone , named raquel bom during june 30. raquel subsequently started move eastwards , moved south pacific basin, weakened tropical depression. system subsequently moved south-westwards , out of basin during july 4, impacted solomon islands, high wind gusts , heavy rain. during post anaylsis, determined raquel had developed category 1 tropical cyclone during june 30, while located within south pacific basin.

subtropical cyclone “katie” on may 2


tropical disturbance 02f developed during december 16, 360 km (225 mi) northeast of niue, last noted during next day suspected extratropical cyclone.


late on january 27, rsmc nadi reported tropical disturbance 08f had developed 275 km (170 mi) southeast of apia, samoa.


on february 2, rsmc nadi reported tropical disturbance 10f had developed 680 km (425 mi) northeast of suva, fiji. on next day system moved south-eastwards in area of low moderate vertical windshear, before last noted during february 4, after low level circulation centre had become exposed. tropical disturbance 13f developed within area of low vertical windshear, north of island of papeete on french polynesian island of tahiti during march 19. on next few days system system moved westwards , remained poorly organised, atmospheric convection persistent on systems supposed low level circulation centre. system subsequently last noted during march 21, while located north of rarotonga in southern cook islands. during april 15, rsmc nadi reported tropical depression 16f, had developed 450 km (280 mi) northwest of port vila, vanuatu. during day system moved westwards , last noted moved australian region during april 16. during may 12, bom started monitor westward-moving tropical low had developed near solomon islands, before moved out of basin during next day.


after season had ended, researchers identified possible subtropical or tropical cyclone, had existed northeast of easter island between april 29 - may 4 , unoffically named katie. system originated within frontal zone during later part of april, before developed nonfrontal system during april 29. @ time majority of atmospheric convection associated system located southeast of low level circulation centre. on next couple of days, system moved south-eastwards , gradually developed further, before developed subtropical storm during may 1. system subsquently moved north-westwards , degenerated remnant low on may 4, before dissipated during may 6.
