a plaque on summer cottage of p.j. mccall, commemorates author of many ballads including boullavogue , song associated 1798 rebellion. nearby on same road deserted norman settlement known locally 7 castles. visible outside wellingtonbridge. historic estuary , peninsula home birds including brent geese, wigeon, teal , many other wintering wildfowl. not far in cullenstown village bungalow decorated entirely seashells.
walking routes
a signposted coastal cross-country walk, duncormick kilmore quay, starts @ old bridge on kilmore quary road. path trails along river/canal 30 minutes, before reaching small beach , continues along beach further 30 minutes large bridge. trail reaches protected sand dune system of ballyteigue burrow. burrow s high dunes can seen ballyteigue bay , kilometres of golden sand. walking along beach further 2 hrs leads towards kilmore quay , saltee islands. route takes afternoon, ending @ kilmore quay fishing village.

a shorter road road, duncormick cullenstown, starts stroll along rural roads, , passes along irish sea coast. ocean , cliffs can seen of walk. cyclists, route takes less ten minutes.

the killag show held every july, close duncormick. features live djs, cookery, crafts, competitions, animals, show jumping, dog shows, stalls, dressage, , fair-ground. nearby seafood festival @ kilmore quay, held each summer, centers on varieties of seafood caught in sea off nearby coast, , hosts irish dancing , music entertainments.
