the movie opens showing super star eddie tudor (cole sprouse) on red carpet @ premiere of 1 of films. tom canty (dylan sprouse) watches on tv , imitates eddie (he mimics him saying catchphrase oh yeah! ), when grandpa, pop (ed lauter), calls him ready school. @ school, principal asks ambition in life, and, tom replies wants eddie tudor. principal advises him join acting classes (which pop doesn t allow him do). has lived pop since parents died, couple of years earlier. young age, ambition has been become actor, partly inspired stories of fame , appeal of acting conveyed him neighbour , best friend, miles (vincent spano) former actor , happens father of eddie tudor (revealed @ end of film). miles has known tom since little kid, when miles moved area, after quitting showbiz , tells tom times when star, although not revealing how lost fame. 14, same age eddie tudor whom looks like, wishes eddie , gets frustrated pop s persistent pushing tom forget acting, , telling him real work , helping him business, when tom not @ school. says pushes tom because cares him. miles, however, supports tom acting ambition, warns him tough business , survive in.
