the constitution of italy provides 2 kinds of binding referendums.
a legislative referendum can called in order abrogate law totally or partially, if requested 500,000 electors or 5 regional councils. kind of referendum valid if @ least majority of electors goes polling station. forbidden call referendum regarding financial laws or laws relating pardons or ratification of international treaties.
a constitutional referendum can called in order approve constitutional law or amendment when has been approved houses (chamber of deputies , senate of republic) majority of less 2 thirds in both or either house, , @ request of 1 fifth of members of either house, or 500,000 electors or 5 regional councils. constitutional referendum valid no matter how many electors go polling station. citizen entitled vote in election chamber of deputies may participate in referendum.
