born elizabeth evans in london, england, graduated royal academy of arts in 1918 high honours. attracted attention of george bernard shaw , cast lead in biggest plays. besides performances shaw, leading lady actors including george arliss, otis skinner, , william faversham. under contract theatre guild many years.


in later years, taught drama patients @ veterans administration hospital near brentwood home. married prolific silent film director george loane tucker left widow in 1921. later married actor brandon evans, died in april 1958. great-aunt of actress wendy barrie-wilson.


risdon died in december 1958 in st johns hospital in santa monica, california cerebral haemorrhage. body donated medical science.
