early years

josé maría moreno carrascal born in 1951 in ayerbe (aragón), [spain] of estramaduran parents. after living 3 years in cangas de onís [asturias], in 1956 family relocated sanlúcar la mayor [andalucia, region parents had lived 2 decades]. attended local catholic elementary schools in these 2 towns. in 1961 family moved seville.

education

during 1960s completed secondary school education in instituto san isidoro of andalusian capital. in summer of 1967, toured morocco group of fellow students. following year lived , studied in east aurora, new york, granted scholarship american field service. in 1970 began undergraduate studies @ facultad de filosofía y letras in university of seville , started first of two-year study @ seville conservatory of music , drama. in 1972 transferred university of granada completed degree in english philology.

career

after living in new orleans (usa) 2 years, returned spanish andalusian towns of arcos de la frontera (where, period of 3 years, worked @ local public secondary school spanish literature , english teacher) , rota (where worked english teacher until october 2011). had chance, during last years of active career educator in spain, teach , coordinate adult education hybrid classes. began publish literary transaltions , poems during second half of nineteen seventies , eighties. in academic year 1982-1983 lived in london, england, teaching spanish @ prince regent comprehensive school. in spain, during school years 1984-1986, took postgraduate courses in spanish , english literature , literary criticism @ university of cádiz and, years later (1997–1999), @ uned (universidad nacional de educación distancia), madrid, where, in 2010, defended doctoral thesis entitled self , modernism: study of poetry of d. h. lawrence, obtained qualification of summa cum laude , awarded premio extraordinario de doctorado. moving usa, became adjunct professor during school year 2012-2013 in department of romance languages , augustine , culture seminar @ villanova university (pennsylvania). in 2015 he, along wife , young son, moved south, state of florida, teaching english composition , north-american , world literature instructor southern state university, @ cca (calvary christian academy), ormond beach, , spanish language in department of world languages , cultures @ stetson university, deland. has worked on- call language instructor l-3 communications in san antonio, texas, , miami, florida.

he has travelled extensively through europe, morocco, north america , central america.

his translations , studies of english , american poets have been published in book form different spanish publishers (renacimiento, edinexus, visor, pre-textos) in literary , academic periodicals , magazines (estafeta literaria, fin de siglo, clarín, condados de niebla, revista atlántica de poesía, demófilo,isla de siltolá, atlantis, etc.), of have included own poetical works. in year 2010 book of poems los jardines de hielo received accesit in international poetry award given ecoem foundation in seville, spain, , in 2012 collection of poems los reinos diminutos won 27th unicaja international poetry award.
