two-handed sword may used refer sword requires 2 hands wield. however, in proper sense should used refer large swords of 16th century.


throughout history two-handed swords have been less common one-handed counterparts, 1 exception being common use in japan.


hand , half sword

a hand , half sword, colloquially known bastard sword , sword extended grip , pommel used either 1 or 2 hands. although these swords may not provide full two-hand grip, allowed wielders hold shield or parrying dagger in off hand, or use two-handed sword more powerful blow. these should not confused longsword, two-handed sword, or zweihänder, intended used 2 hands.
