i-69 in michigan begins @ indiana state line southeast of kinderhook , north of interchange indiana toll road, carries i-80 , i-90. there, i-69 runs northward through mixture of southern michigan farmland , woodland in branch county. few miles north of state line, freeway passes coldwater lake state park , namesake body of water; north of lake, there welcome center northbound lanes. i-69 curves around east side of coldwater, connecting city s business loop on south of town. east of downtown, freeway intersects northern end of business loop @ interchange features us 12 (chicago road). farther north, freeway turns northwest, crosses calhoun county , on st. joseph river. i-69 turns northward , bypasses tekonsha town s west, intersecting m-60 in process.

in southern eaton county, freeway parallels battle creek river north of junction m-78. near olivet, i-69 begins turn in northeasterly direction , curves around north side of town. on south side of charlotte, i-69 turns northward, traversing area east of downtown , crossing former routing of us 27, part of business loop city. farther north, freeway has junction m-50, bridge on battle creek river, , interchange northern end of business loop next fitch h. beach airport. north of airport, i-69 turns northeasterly again , parallels lansing road, former route of us 27/m-78. freeway meets southern end of m-100 near potterville , continues lansing–east lansing metropolitan area. southwest of state s capital city, i-69 crosses on lansing road near lansing delta township assembly, factory general motors; northeast of complex, i-69 merges i-96. combined i-96/i-69 runs northward through suburban edges of lansing area, intersecting western ends of i-496 , bl i-69 lansing. freeway enters clinton county, , north of crossing of grand river, i-69 turns eastward separate i-96. part of larger interchange i-96, i-69 crosses bl i-96 (grand river avenue) without connections.

eastward port huron

after leaving i-96 concurrency, i-69 changes cardinal orientation , signed east–west point on. freeway continues parallel looking glass river through suburban areas north of capital region international airport. north of east lansing, i-69 meets us 127 @ cloverleaf interchange. east of junction, i-69 turns southeasterly passing hawk hollow golf course , park lake on way meet eastern end of bl i-69 north of lake lansing. i-69 turns northeasterly parallel lansing road (old m-78) enter shiawassee county. freeway continues through central michigan farmlands, jogging north of perry , bancroft.

i-94/i-69 eastbound near port huron

at durand, i-69 meets southeastern end of m-71 on northwest side of town. freeway turns sharply northeast before turning due east near lennon. interchange m-13 south of lennon marks shiawassee–genesee county line. continuing eastward, i-69 parallels miller road north far city of swartz creek; east of town, 2 roadways cross. i-69 parallels line of canadian national railway enters flint metro area. freeway intersects bristol road near bishop international airport , crosses i-75/us 23 southwest of downtown flint. i-69, railroad , swartz creek parallel downtown flint freeway intersects i-475 , m-54 (dort highway) before exiting east side of city.

i-69 runs eastward out of flint parallel railroad. @ davison, intersects m-15 before crossing lapeer county. in area, freeway traverses farmlands in southern part of region called thumb. jogs north around lake nepessing, southwest of lapeer. freeway continues through farmland imlay city, meets m-53 before crossing western st. clair county. southwest of capac, there temporary welcome center @ rest area along westbound lanes. i-69 continues eastward through interchange m-19 @ emmett.

near wadhams, i-69 curves around north follow part of black river. on east side of community, freeway turns southeast enters western edge of port huron suburbs. i-69 turns again run due eastward intersect i-94. 2 freeways merge in interchange has connections bl i-69. past interchange, freeway curves north , around east cross black river. on eastern bank, i-94/i-69 travels through 1 more interchange, 1 m-25 , bl i-69/bl i-94. past interchange, freeway crosses through toll , customs plazas twin-span blue water bridge. i-69 designation officially ends @ international boundary in middle of st. clair river connects highway 402.
